Frequently Asked Questions

How much will therapy cost?

The rate for a 60-minute session is $220 in accordance with the fee guidelines set by the Psychologist’s Association of Alberta.

Will counselling be covered by insurance?

Yes, most insurance companies cover the total or partial cost of a qualified registered therapist. I recommend checking your insurance to see what benefits you’re entitled to. Benefits typically renew once per year. You will be provided with a receipt at the end of our session that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

I also offer direct billing to Alberta Blue Cross, Medavie Blue Cross and Greenshield.

What forms of payment do you accept?

All major credit cards, interac, e-transfers, and cash are accepted. Payment is due the same day services are rendered.

Are you 2SLGBTQ+ friendly?

Yes! Everyone deserves to feel happy, loved, and valued, regardless of their gender or sexual orientation. All people are valued regardless of their differences, including differences in race, sexual identity, gender, ethnicity, culture, religion, or any other factor.

What is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)?

EMDR is a treatment developed by clinical psychologist Francine Shapiro, Ph.D., in California in 1987 to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). EMDR uses bilateral stimulation while processing distressing incidents which can lead to a reduction in the intensity of emotions related to these incidents. Bilateral stimulation can include eye movements or alternating tactile stimulation.

Although initially developed to treat trauma, EMDR has been proven beneficial in treating anxiety, depression, OCD, chronic pain, and many other conditions. For any questions on whether EMDR is suitable for you, please contact me directly.
